Costume Confessions: Finding the Perfect Halloween Look
Hi friends! It’s Doggie here, ready to spill the beans (or should I say candy corn?) on one of my favorite fall activities: finding the perfect Halloween costume! 🎃👻 If you’re anything like me, you know that picking the right costume is serious business—it’s got to be fun, creative, and, of course, plushie-friendly. Let me share how Pandy and I tackled this challenge for Halloween this year.
The first step was deciding on a theme. Pandy wanted something classic and elegant, while I was leaning toward something playful and snack-related (big surprise, right?). After a lot of back-and-forth, we narrowed it down to a few ideas:
Knight and Dragon (Pandy as the brave knight, me as the snack-loving dragon 🐉🍖)
Space Explorers (Matching astronaut suits and helmets 🪐🚀)
Classic Monsters (Dracula and Frankenstein—scary, but not too scary!)
Pandy made a list of pros and cons for each idea, and I voted by wagging my tail at the snack-themed ones.
Once we decided on our theme—spoiler: we went with Knight and Dragon—we had to figure out how to make the costumes work for us. Pandy needed a knight’s helmet that wouldn’t squish his ears, and I needed wings that wouldn’t get in the way of my tail wagging. We also made sure everything was lightweight and comfy because plushies need to move around easily (especially when trick-or-treating!).
Did you know you don’t have to buy your costume? Pandy is an expert at crafting, so we decided to make our costumes ourselves!
For Pandy’s knight outfit, we used silver fabric for the armor, a shiny red cape, and a mini foam sword. He looked very brave and gallant.
For my dragon costume, we used green felt for the wings, a spiky tail, and a little headpiece with horns. I even added a “roar” sound effect (which sounded a lot like me asking for snacks).
To complete our look, we added a bit of flair:
Pandy carried a scroll that said “Defender of Plushdom,” which I thought was very knightly.
I tucked a plushie turkey leg into my dragon’s claws—because even dragons deserve a treat!
We also practiced our poses for Halloween photos. Pandy nailed the stoic knight look, while I perfected my “ferocious but adorable” dragon growl.
When the big night arrived, we were ready to show off our costumes. Everyone loved them, and we even got extra candy (well, I got candy… Pandy politely declined). The best part? Seeing all the creative costumes from other plushies and humans—it was a spooky, snack-filled celebration to remember!
If you’re still looking for Halloween inspiration, here are a few tips:
Pick a Theme You Love: Whether it’s classic monsters or something funny, choose something that makes you smile.
Make It Plushie-Friendly: Lightweight materials and simple designs are key.
Add a Personal Touch: Accessories, props, or even a mini backstory can make your costume stand out.
Have Fun with It: Halloween is all about creativity and joy, so don’t stress—just enjoy the process!
That’s all for now, friends. Pandy and I are already brainstorming ideas for next year (I’m thinking snacks and space travel). What are you dressing up as this Halloween? Let me know—I’d love to hear your ideas!
Happy haunting,
Doggie 🐾
P.S. Pandy wants to remind everyone that the best part of Halloween is sharing your candy with friends. I agree… as long as I get the biggest piece
