By Dark Snackus
Tonight, things took a darker turn.
Not bad dark.
Not ominous dark.
More like dramatic, cozy, snack-forward dark.
Because after yesterday’s noble and heroic Star Wars Day celebration, I realized something very important:
the galaxy is big,
the Force is complicated,
and sometimes the dark side simply has better popcorn.
So naturally, we observed Revenge of the 5th. Doggie is, regrettably or delightfully, exactly the sort of plush pup who would do this.
I put on my red hoodie again because it felt powerful.
Not evil, exactly.
Just… slightly more theatrical.
I picked up my glowing red lightsaber and immediately felt transformed into a tiny galactic menace with very strong snack opinions.
Mini Blue was also ready.
Not in a destructive way.
More in a “I support mischief if it remains adorable” way.
Pandy, as always, brought balance, dignity, and a bowl of dark side popcorn.
Which I appreciated because every great saga needs one character who remains calm while everyone else escalates unnecessarily.
We returned to the space fort, but this time the energy was different.
Moodier.
More dramatic.
At least three percent more villainous.
Our official plan included:
dramatic breathing,
snacks,
galactic mischief,
taking over the snacks again,
and repeating everything with a more sinister laugh.
I would like to say I handled my role with restraint.
I did not.
At one point I stood in the middle of the room, raised my lightsaber, and declared that all cookies now belonged to the empire of me.
Pandy said, “That is not how governance works.”
And I said, “That sounds exactly like something the resistance would say.”
Mini Blue appeared deeply energized by the entire situation.
To be clear, no one was harmed.
No planets were destroyed.
No true villainy occurred.
But several star-shaped cookies were eaten with extreme seriousness.
That is the thing about Revenge of the 5th.
It is not really about evil.
It is about commitment to the bit.
It is about dramatic lighting.
It is about leaning into chaos just enough to feel powerful while still being safely surrounded by blankets and trusted friends.
Honestly, it was wonderful.
Sometimes the light side is noble and inspiring.
Sometimes the dark side has themed snacks and a better aesthetic.
I think there is room in the galaxy for both.
May your popcorn be plentiful, your forts be secure, and your tiny theatrical speeches be received with the gravity they deserve.
Darkly yours,
Doggie
Pandy’s Postscript:
He announced himself as “Darth Snackus” and then dropped a cookie in his own lap.
