By Doggie – Flailing Travel Companion, Emotional Carry-On, Chaos Intern
There are three types of plushies on a trip:
The Planner 🧳 (Pandy)
The Navigator 🗺️ (Mini Blue)
The one frantically holding a half-zipped backpack and yelling “Do we have SNACKS?!” (Me.)
We are a team.
We are capable.
We are sometimes late to boarding but emotionally bonded through stress.
He made a checklist.
Then a backup checklist.
Then a snack compatibility matrix based on destination climate and Doggie-based unpredictability.
His outfits were rolled, categorized, and themed.
He packed matching tea bags.
He even left space for souvenirs.
Who does that.
They beeped through three apps, cross-referenced the airport terminal map, and flashed colors when our gate changed.
Green = on track.
Blue = standard stress.
Magenta = boarding now. Move your paws.
At one point, Mini Blue re-routed us around a juice spill in the security line. I don’t even know how. They just knew.
I packed six socks. None of them matched.
I brought an entire jar of peanut butter and had to explain it to TSA like it was a living creature.
I wore my hoodie backwards for “snack accessibility.”
But I also got us emergency gummies.
I double-checked the plushie boarding passes.
And I made friends with a child in the waiting area who gave me a sticker shaped like a sandwich.
Sometimes teamwork looks like:
One plushie doing origami with the packing cubes.
One plushie glowing like a travel oracle.
And one plushie yelling “WAIT, DID I BRING MY EMOTIONS?” while holding a neck pillow and three pre-flight cookies.
And you know what?
We made it.
Together.
To Gate A12. With snacks.
Frayed but flying,
