Post-Prezzie Blues: How I Recovered from the Great Gift Rush
By Doggie
Hi friends, it’s me—Doggie! 🐾
I know, I know… it’s been a while. After Christmas, things got a little wild. There were prezzies everywhere. Ribbons. Wrapping paper. That crinkly tissue stuff that I may or may not have tried to eat. It was glorious… until it wasn’t.
You see, after the wrapping stopped and the cookies ran out, I entered what I now call: The Great Gift Rush Crash.
I kept checking under the tree just in case.
I tried to rewrap my own toys to experience “the thrill” again.
I started hearing phantom tape sounds. Pandy said it was probably the wind, but I know what Scotch tape sounds like.
I even tried hiding a snack, waiting five minutes, then “surprising” myself with it. (Honestly? Still kind of worked.)
1. Gratitude Mode: Activated
Pandy had me sit down and make a list of all the wonderful gifts and moments I got to enjoy. I pouted at first. But then I started writing…
A new travel suitcase set
My very own Lamb Chop plush from Santa (!!)
Cozy moments with friends
The 49ers winning earlier in the month
Hockey season starting
And suddenly… I felt kinda full inside. (And not just from snacks.)
2. Mid-January Mini Prezzie Party
Okay, so technically I made this one up. I wrapped up a few of my older toys and hosted a “Surprise Yourself Again” day. Pandy rolled his eyes, but even he had fun when he “unwrapped” his favorite tea blend.
3. Vision Board Vibes
We pulled out the glue sticks and glitter and made vision boards for the year. Mine included:
More snacks
More naps
A tiny Vespa
World plushie peace
Pandy’s had a lot of books, calm sunsets, and probably a 5-year plan.
Even after the sparkle of the holidays fades, there’s still magic in the little things—like surprise snackies, cozy evenings, and friends who help you through the prezzie hangover.
So if you're feeling a little post-holiday droop, try wrapping up a treat, hugging your favorite plushie, and remembering:
The spirit of prezzies lives in your heart (and occasionally your backpack).
'Til next time,
Doggie
P.S. I may or may not have stashed a few leftover bows. You never know when a surprise wrapping emergency will strike.
