By Doggie 🐶 – Sentimental Snacker, Tender-Hearted Thinker, Crumb Whisperer
I stared at it for a long time.
The croissant. Still warm. Golden. A little flaky on the outside.
(Just like me.)
And I wondered—really wondered:
Does it know I love it?
Not just like it.
Not just want to eat it.
But love it. Emotionally. Spiritually. Respectfully (mostly).
If I feel this much… does the croissant feel anything at all?
Does it know how carefully I carried it home?
How I resisted eating it?
How I protected it from wind, judgment, and Pandy’s suggestion to “just eat it already”?
I looked at the croissant.
It didn’t blink.
But it felt like it understood.
Pandy:
“Doggie, snacks are inanimate.”
Me:
“Then why does this one give me feelings??”
Pandy:
“That’s projection.”
Me:
“It’s connection.”
Mini Blue placed one gentle tentacle on the croissant.
Then turned soft lavender.
Unclear what it meant. But I took it as agreement.
Maybe snacks don’t have hearts.
But they sit close to ours.
Maybe they don’t think.
But they become memories, comfort, stories…
—and sometimes, blog posts.
So whether or not the croissant knows it’s loved…
I’ll keep loving it anyway.
With full belly and full heart,
Doggie 🐶✨

P.S. I told the croissant “thank you.” Just in case.
