By Doggie – Reluctant Sleeper, Cookie Loss Survivor, Blanket Enthusiast
They say naps are good for you.
That rest is essential.
That sleep restores the soul.
That dreams are sweet.
But you know what’s sweeter?
Cookies. That I missed.
I curled up under my weighted blanket.
Mini Blue had just turned a soft sky blue—optimal nap hue.
Pandy was reading quietly and said,
“We’ll wake you if anything exciting happens.”
Spoiler: They did not.
The air smelled… toasty.
There were giggles in the distance.
The faint sound of licking paws.
I followed the trail.
The tray was empty.
A single raisin remained.
Even Mini Blue looked sticky.
Disturb me with what, Pandy?
Joy? Shared experience? Gooey morsels of memory??
Denial – “Maybe they saved me one.”
Bargaining – “I’ll trade my next nap for a half brownie.”
Anger – “WHY DO I EVEN SLEEP.”
Sadness – stares longingly into the crumb abyss
Acceptance – makes new tray, eats all five cookies, immediately sleepy again
I love naps.
I do.
But I love snack timing more.
So from now on, if you see a cozy lump under a blanket with one paw sticking out…
just place a cookie gently on top.
Sincerely,
Doggie 🐶💤🍪
