By Doggie 🐶 – Unintentional Planner, Professional Disruptor of Peace
It started with the softest sentence ever spoken:
“I think I’ll have a quiet day,” said Pandy, wrapping himself in a blanket burrito and sipping tea like a wise forest monk.
Naturally, I respected that. I nodded, flopped onto a pillow nearby, and absolutely did not plan anything.
...for the first 4 minutes.
But then I thought—what if I gently enhanced the quiet day?
Just a few cozy little activities. Nothing too chaotic. Just… five.
I brought tiny scones and laid out a napkin next to Pandy’s chair like a very thoughtful squirrel.
It was going perfectly until Mini Blue tried to butter a scone and flung the knife across the room. (No plushies harmed. One scone mildly offended.)
Pandy: “This is still peaceful. Mostly.”
Me: “Wait until you see Activity #2.”
I built the fort. Very softly.
I used indoor voices. Mostly.
I selected only the fluffiest adventure tale and did my best wise narrator voice.
Pandy actually laughed out loud.
Then Mini Blue knocked over the book stack trying to add a lantern. Dramatic pause achieved.
I happened to have googly eyes, glitter glue, and a cardboard tube.
Pandy blinked slowly.
Then made a tea dragon out of napkins and judged me slightly for putting a bowtie on a marshmallow.
I queued up the quiet spa playlist.
Mini Blue added “Snack Attack Polka.”
We compromised with forest sounds and one kazoo.
Pandy: “That squirrel sounds like it’s tap dancing.”
Me: “It's a vibe.”
Completely spontaneous.
One minute we were laying quietly. The next we were tangled in fuzz and crumbs, breathing gently in sync.
Mini Blue glowed soft sky blue.
Pandy smiled. Then sighed. Then said,
“This is the best ruined quiet day I’ve ever had.”
Sometimes quiet doesn’t mean nothing happens.
Sometimes it means soft, silly things happen… with your best friends nearby.
So next time your bestie wants peace and quiet?
Respect it.
Honor it.
Then accidentally fill it with five gentle disasters and a really good nap.
With love and a whisper-shout of joy,
Doggie 🐶✨

P.S. Pandy has reclaimed his blanket and forgiven the glitter incident. Probably.
