Giving Thanks: A Plushie’s Guide to Thanksgiving 2024
Hi friends! Doggie here, coming to you straight from the coziest spot on the couch, wrapped in my favorite blanket, with the delicious smell of Thanksgiving dinner in the air. 🦃🍂✨ It’s one of my favorite times of the year—a day full of gratitude, family, and of course, snacks!
Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what we’re thankful for, and this year, Pandy and I have a lot to celebrate. So, grab a plate of something tasty, and let’s talk about how plushies (and humans) can make the most of this wonderful holiday!
Pandy and I like to start the day with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. 🎈 I love watching the giant balloons float through the sky (still waiting for them to make a plushie balloon—how do we make this happen?). Pandy, on the other hand, enjoys critiquing the marching bands and telling me fun facts about the history of the parade.
And let’s not forget the first snack of the day—a small warm-up meal to prepare for the big feast. Pandy calls it “pacing yourself,” while I call it appetizer time!
The most important part of Thanksgiving? The food! Here’s what’s on our dream Thanksgiving menu this year:
🍗 Turkey – A must-have! Pandy is a fan of the classic roasted turkey, while I think a deep-fried version sounds exciting (crispy = good!).
🥔 Mashed Potatoes & Gravy – Fluffy, buttery, and perfect for making a little “gravy pool” in the center.
🌽 Cornbread – Pandy’s favorite. He insists it’s an underrated side dish.
🍠 Sweet Potatoes – Some people like marshmallows on top, but I prefer mine with just a little butter.
🥧 Pumpkin Pie – Pandy enjoys it with a dollop of whipped cream, while I think the best way to eat pie is… all of it.
Pandy is in charge of setting the table (he likes things to be “just right”), while I handle taste testing to ensure everything is delicious. It’s a very important job!
Thanksgiving isn’t just about food (though it’s a big part of it); it’s also about reflecting on what we’re grateful for. This year, Pandy and I made a list:
🐾 Our amazing adventures – From traveling across Europe to cheering for the 49ers, this year has been full of unforgettable moments.
🎉 Our wonderful friends and family – The best part of life is sharing it with the ones we love.
🥳 Prezzies & snacks – Because, let’s be honest, they make everything better!
🏡 Being home for the holidays – No matter where we travel, there’s something special about coming back home for Thanksgiving.
Pandy says it’s important to take time to appreciate what we have, and I couldn’t agree more (even if I did spend most of the conversation thinking about pie).
Once we’ve eaten our fill, it’s time to rest and relax. Our favorite post-dinner activities include:
Watching football (GO NINERS! 🏈)
Playing board games with friends
Taking a plushie-sized nap (because food comas are real)
We’ve also started a new tradition: writing thank-you notes to the people who make our year so special. Pandy says gratitude shouldn’t just be a once-a-year thing, and I think he’s onto something.
As Thanksgiving comes to a close, Pandy and I shift our focus to… CHRISTMAS PREP! 🎄✨ The decorations come out, the holiday playlist starts playing, and we get ready for the most magical time of the year. But first, one last slice of pie (or two).
From our plushie hearts to yours, we hope you have the happiest Thanksgiving filled with love, laughter, and all the snacks your heart desires. What are you most thankful for this year? Let us know—we’d love to hear it!
Until next time,
Doggie 🐾
P.S. If anyone needs help with leftover taste-testing, I am very available! 😋
