Hello again, friends.
Our French adventure included some chalets that Pandy and I felt deserved serious consideration as future Dens.
I could already imagine us settling in: Pandy with his tea, Mini Blue finding a cozy spot, and me making sure the snack situation was suitable for a long stay.
Pandy reminded me that admiring a chalet does not mean we get to move into it. I understand this, although I think we should keep the photographs just in case.
We were also in France for a wedding, and the dress code was bow ties, suspenders, and Converse shoes.
An excellent combination. I like looking presentable, but I also like being ready to go somewhere.
We dressed up and joined the celebrations outside, sipping cocktails and mingling. Pandy looked very much at ease. I was pleased to be included in an occasion that required both a bow tie and comfortable footwear. Mini Blue needed no elaborate outfit to be lovely company.
There is something special about watching people gather for a wedding. Everyone has come from somewhere, and for a little while they are all in the same place, making room for one another. We were a small part of that gathering, but it felt good to be there.
I hope the newlyweds have many happy adventures together. And that they remember to stop for something delicious along the way.
Eventually, our own little traveling group reached a goodbye at Geneva Airport. Pandy was heading home to the San Francisco Bay Area. Mini Blue and I were continuing to Stockholm.
I was excited about Sweden. I was also going to miss my best friend.
Pandy is the one who helps an adventure feel manageable. When I am thinking about three things at once—usually two of them edible—he makes sure we get where we need to go. More than that, he is the friend I want beside me when I find something wonderful.
We said goodbye at GVA, and I kept him close for a little longer before we went our separate ways.
There would be more photographs to send him. More stories. Almost certainly more meals that needed explaining.
For now, I had our time by the lake, our chalet daydreams, and the memory of us dressed up together in France. Those were coming with me.
Next stop: Stockholm. Mini Blue and I will do our best to keep the expedition in order.
Pandy, we will report back.
